The wrong position in which you place the eggs and that makes them stay fresh for less time

Are you storing your eggs correctly? The trend among the egg cups we buy in the supermarket is for them to come with the widest part facing down. Free-range eggs collected on home farms are usually placed in the same way. However, a poultry company in Colombia has shared a video on its Instagram profile (@bodegagropecuariadonjaime) in which it explains why we should place the eggs on the thinnest tip. And this has an explanation!

The eggs have an air chamber that is located in the roundest part. When storing an egg for several days, the proportion of air increases due to gas exchange between the inside and outside through the pores of the shell. In fact, that is why it is recommended not to wash them, as this maintains the film that protects them and prevents them from rotting sooner. When the amount of air is greater than the amount of liquid, the egg loses density, which encourages the decomposition of bacteria that make it unfit for human consumption.

As one of the employees of this farm explains, by placing the eggs in the egg cup with the thinnest part down, the air chamber remains intact and, therefore, this is a safe form of storage that helps the eggs remain fresher for longer.

The way they are placed is not the only thing that influences the conservation of the eggs. As Instagramer @paulinacocina explains in a publication, the place is also important and that is why it is always better to store them in the refrigerator. In addition, the cook has shared another series of tips about eggs that were somewhat ignored:
