Dogs do not easily forget a smell, even less so if it is the one given off by their owner. And it doesn't matter that weeks or months have passed, the dog reacts with the same enthusiasm when he has it in front of him.
That is what happened to a dog who was reunited with his owner after months hospitalized, according to a video that has gone viral on social networks.
In the Instagram post, you can see how the furry dog is walking a little confused in the middle of the grass and is not able to notice that, in the distance, his human friend is waiting for him sitting on a bench.
As he approaches, although he is cautious, he realizes that it is his owner. Without hesitation, she lunges at him. The unmistakable sign that he is happy: tail in full swing and turning around without stopping.
"This dog didn't recognize its owner after it lost a lot of weight, until it smelled him," explains the author of the video. And the veterinarian who shared it adds: "The sense of smell of our furry dogs is incomparable! This little dog recognized his owner after a long time without seeing him, just by his smell."
