Is Spain a good place to raise children? This is what this tiktoker says

Social networks are platforms that give anyone a voice to reflect or share what they want. For this reason, one of the contents that abound in them are videos of cultural differences experienced by people who live in countries other than their homeland. These “cultural shocks” – as they are known on social networks – also intervene in the upbringing of children and this is attested to by a mother from the United States who lives in Logroño.

Following the TikTok profile @smithsinspain, with 43.4 thousand followers, this mother publishes different videos in which she shows situations in our country that catch her attention because of how they differ from the United States. Among her publications, a specific video in which she highlights a notable difference between the upbringing of children in two countries went viral.

“I am an American mother living in Spain and I have had one of those moments of culture shock as a mother, realizing that I am raising my son in a different culture than the one I was born in,” begins the narrative that exceeds 53 thousand likes. on the social network. This mother explains how the night before she was going for a night walk with her son – under two years old – so that the little one would get tired before his bedtime routine.

“We left our apartment around nine-twenty at night, after dinner,” he explains, emphasizing that “we would never do that in the United States.” They went to the park, where the boy met another girl and they started playing together. It was then that the girl's mother approached this TikToker to ask her where she was from, upon hearing her speak in English, and they began to engage in a conversation about the differences regarding motherhood in Spain and the United States.

The reflection of the American mother focuses on the fact that they were in the park with their children at ten at night. “It's safe and the park is close to a bar, so we can have a drink, a coffee or whatever, so parents can relax while their children are in the park,” she says. And she emphasizes that “this would never happen in the United States.”

“In my opinion, Spain is an incredible place to raise a child and I am very grateful that we are here. It is the security, the slower pace of life, the family atmosphere and the people that make my life in Spain as a mother so wonderful,” summarizes the title of the video.
