Both the Prosecutor's Office and the private accusations demanded his entry into prison due to the risk of escape and taking into account the high penalty imposed as well as the seriousness of the facts for which he was convicted.

Muñoz was mayor of the town of Toreno for 12 years (between 2003 and 2015), first with the UPL and later with the Popular Party.
