The young Catalan athlete David Pérez Bruque, 18, died this Monday, as reported by his club, Club Atlètic Manresa, on its website. The athlete was a regular competitor in speed events such as the 400 meter hurdles.
"With great sadness, the Club Atlètic Manresa family wants to inform you that today David's light has gone out. We know how lucky we were to be able to share so many moments with him. Like a good sprinter, he left quickly, discreetly and silently," the organization to which the young athlete belonged has written on its website.
The Catalan Athletics Federation (FCA) has also shown its condolences to the family after learning "the shocking news of his death": "David has left us at the age of 18. May the earth be light to you, friend." As well as the Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA): "Our most sincere condolences to his family, his friends and all of Catalan athletics." "A little over a year ago, David Pérez Bruque was at the U-18 European Championship in Jerusalem, defending the colors of Spain. Today, with all our pain, we regret his death," added the RFEA.
