The end of an artistic couple?

Nao Albet and Marcel Borràs have been characterized for a few years to promote their new show, self-referential even in the title, De Nao Albet and Marcel Borràs, which premieres on October 5 at the Theater National of Catalonia. The artistic couple, who confess that they have a relationship very similar to that of a marriage, except that they do not have sex, have wanted to review their career, in moments that seem to have reached the end of their relationship.

If the title already says a lot about what the public will find there, the artistic and technical sheet just makes it clear. Nao Albet and Marcel Borràs sign absolutely everything: direction, interpretation, scenography, costumes, lighting, sound space, video, characterization, movement advisors, martial arts, voice-overs and documentation. Only in the production do other names appear, which are not played with the quartos: Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, Festival Temporada Alta 2023, Uns que fan teatre. And in small print: "Technical and management teams of the TNC".

At the press conference held at the TNC, its director, Carme Portaceli, declared that everything was being done with great secrecy and that even she herself could not make any assessment, because she had not yet been able to enter the rehearsal room In fact, Borràs arrived a quarter of an hour late and the presentation began without him.

Albet, therefore, explained the intention of the show: "I was born with the conviction to make an anthology of our works. Some were on the poster for a short time and so we're bringing them back. When we thought about this, the idea of the ego appeared and this has led us to reflect on self-fiction, to always be the center, to what extent we are selfish, narcissistic... But we come to the conclusion that we are talking about general things that affect many people".

When Borràs arrived, he added: "We have known each other for more than fifteen years and we have been through many moments. Then we had absolute confidence and said everything to each other's faces. Then you realize that what we do is liked by the public and this has also affected our relationship and our work. Now it's harder for us to connect and it's very easy to annoy the other."

"In the rehearsal room we explored as far as we could go", declares Albet. And Borràs replied: "We wanted to put ourselves at risk and do things we had never done before. Having built the relationship out of work also makes it look like a business. When I finish a show, I need to stop watching it." And Albet is quick to say: "It happens to me too. This work has served us to make peace before we separate, but we are in a wheel that will surely end up kicking".

The statements of the couple of actors, however, went in crescendo and reproaches began to be made, to the point that Borràs threw water in Albet's face and left the press conference. From this Thursday, you will be able to follow this story in the Small Room of the TNC. And for sure you will not be disappointed.
