The small protective bird of the Ebro Delta

I have captured this photograph for La Vanguardia Readers' Photos in the Ebro Delta, an image that shows us this seabird protecting the egg that must end up becoming a new chick.

Terns or terns are seabirds belonging to the Sternidae family, which are normally found near seas, rivers and wetlands, making the Ebro Delta an ideal place.

Most species are pale gray with white in lower areas, with a contrasting black patch on the head, as seen in the photograph.

The common tern (Sterna hirundo) is a migratory species that spends winter on the coasts of tropical and subtropical countries. They have a narrow-tipped beak, red with a black tip.

There are several similar species, such as the Arctic tern. This bird builds its nest anywhere, it does not have to be in a place with a lot of vegetation, as can also be seen in the photograph. In fact, it can nest on the beach if necessary.
