The 50th anniversary (and farewell) of Dagoll Dagom: gala, exhibition, catalog, album... and 'Mar i cel'

Dagoll Dagom are closing, yes, but not without making noise, because in addition to the return of Sea and Sky, their most emblematic creation, this Friday they announced the events with which they will celebrate their 50th anniversary: a great gala, an exhibition, a book catalog and a disc reviewing the company's history. In an event at their theater, the Victòria – it was their home between 1986 and 2019, when they sold it to Antonio Díaz, the Mago Pop, who did not want to miss it – the three partners, Anna Rosa Cisquella . television series, 653 school functions - with more than half a million attendees - and 8,270 functions that have exceeded 4.5 million viewers, of which 1.2 have seen Mar i cel in the three known productions they have done so far (1988, 2004, 2014). For the next one, which will be released on September 14, 75,000 tickets have already been sold.

Before that, however, they will celebrate fifty years with a gala at the Grec theater, La grand nit de Dagoll Dagom (July 11, 12 and 13), directed by Daniel Anglès and with the participation of a hundred artists - musicians, choir and actors - among which 26 have been part of the company, such as Mone, Roger Berruezo, Muntsa Rius, Víctor Arbelo, Pep Molina or Mercè Martínez, and the collaboration of actors such as Pep Cruz, Àngels Gonyalons, Elena Gadel, Ivan Labanda, Ferran Rañé and Nina. Sorneguer, Bozzo has assured that they are already "making the ladder for the centenary", hoping that "Catalan theater will continue to have the poor iron health it has had until now". Anglés has assured that "we will travel in an untidy way through all the material" in a show that will also be "a beautiful way to relive what has happened".

Later, the new cast of Mar i cel was revealed, with the actors entering while singing the Pirates' Anthem, with Jordi Garreta (Saïd) and Alèxia Pascual (the Eufòria finalist will play Blanca) as the main protagonists, in addition to Abel García (Joanot), Albert Gràcia (Hassèn), Berta Luna (Idriss), Xavi Fernández (Don Carles), Eloi Gómez (Ferran and Archbishop Ribera), Clara Renom (mother of Saïd and Teresa), Sergio Escribano (Malek and soldier), Candela Díaz (Maria and Moorish woman), Esteve Roig (Osman and soldier), Cisco Cruz (Salam, baron of Dénia and soldier), Albert Mora (Philip II King of Spain, Albanian and soldier), Anna Alborch (Queen Margarida of Austria, Carmen and Moorish woman), Bittor Fernández (television Titó will be Felip, the Duke of Lerma and a corporal), Estel Aparicio (Saïd nen and Montserrat), Carmen Giner (Rosa and Moorish woman) , Biel Llongueras (Abderrahïm and Idriss II), Guillem Ripoll (mute and father of Saïd) and Guillem Fole (Mohamed and soldier). The ship, which is already 36 years old and has passed with "small changes", awaits them.

The adapter of Guimerà's text, Xavier Bru de Sala, has explained how, to write the lyrics so that Albert Guinovart could put music to them, he worked with themes from other musicals, except for the Pirates' Anthem, for which he looked for the best anthems, according to him La internacional and La Marsellesa, which he discovered have the same patterns, so that the lyrics of all three songs "can be exchanged". Bru de Sala also explained to this newspaper that over the years changes have been made, but "less than twenty words", and perhaps the most visible is that at the beginning they sang about the "Muslim brothers", but it was changed by "faithful Muslims" before the existence of the Islamist group.

In September, Dagoll Dagom will begin its last voyage.
