Dolors Sabater leaves the parliamentary group of the CUP to focus as a councilor in Badalona

Dolors Sabater will leave the presidency of the CUP parliamentary group after being elected councilor in Badalona with Guanyem. The training code of ethics prohibits holding two public positions. Sabater conspires to "stand up" to Xavier García Albiol, who this Saturday will be appointed mayor.

The CUP has announced its march on Twitter: "Thank you for these two years of shared struggles and collective project. Now to continue on the front line in Badalona to combat the extreme right and help make the city a trench of anti-fascist resistance."

Sabater's departure had already been planned since October, when Guanyem incorporated it into his project for the city. She was mayor from 2015 to 2018 and in the elections of February 14, 2021 she was on the CUP list as a star signing and ranked number one.

However, its role was diluted as the legislature in Parliament progressed, to the point that names like Eulàlia Reguant or Laia Estrada have taken more prominence from the anti-capitalist caucus.

Sabater will appear alone in the consistory, since Guanyem got only one representative in the last municipal elections, held on May 28.
