There are people who often take the easiest and fastest way. The one that costs less and has more benefits. Often, however, doing the right thing, no matter how hard, pays off. In this case, 520 euros. This was the amount added by María Elisa Bouzas García, a resident of Cerdedo-Cotobade (Pontevedra) who this week received an unexpected reward for a good deed she had done two years earlier.

The incredible story is told by El Diario de Pontevedra. The woman, at the end of 2020, went to the local police after having found a lost wallet with 520 euros inside it. The agents left the purse and its contents in lost and found, waiting for someone to claim them. But it was not like that.

As stated in article 615 of the Penal Code, "after two years have elapsed, counted from the day of the second publication, without the owner presenting himself, the thing found or its value will be awarded to the person who found it."

And that is how, in accordance with the established deadlines, the Municipal Police Force contacted María Elisa this week to give her the wallet and the 520 euros.

She was not the only person who this week was rewarded for her good deed. The Local Police handed over another six objects to those who once transferred them to the lost and found office: 150 euros, another 100, a wallet with 30 euros, a camera, a lens and a watch.
