Setback for Mediaset: it will not be able to broadcast images of Daniel Sancho in prison

In recent days, Rodolfo Sancho has requested precautionary measures due to the constant dissemination in the media of images of his son, Daniel Sancho, during his stay in the Thai prison of Koh Samui. This Thursday, his demands have had a response from the Prosecutor's Office, which supports prohibiting Mediaset España from broadcasting these shots.

In this way, the communication group that owns Telecinco and Cuatro will not be able to broadcast some of the images corresponding to the confessed murderer of Edwin Arrieta, whose trial already has a date. Specifically, in addition to those shots of Sancho in prison, they must not broadcast images taken from their social networks without consent.

The prosecutor has presented her proposal to the judge of the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 56 of Madrid. In it, yes, she opposes the prohibition being extended to images and comments about the chef's private life, at a general level.

For now, the measure will only affect Mediaset, allowing the rest of the companies and media to broadcast the same images. It was Daniel's family that was in charge of requesting it, "given the constant dissemination in the media of information pertaining to the strict privacy" of Sancho and "unfounded news about him."

The communication group must also refrain from publishing offensive comments about Daniel Sancho. In that sense, the prosecutor assures that "these are images totally unrelated to the process," and alleges that the family's request is too generic by not specifying which comments can be considered offensive.

For his part, the Sancho family's lawyer, Mario Bonacho, defends that Mediaset has spread insulting expressions for months, which have "a direct impact on the international level and are known in Thailand" and asks that the information be limited to the journalistic field. . Finally, the company's lawyer accuses the Prosecutor's Office of imposing "prior censorship" and recalls that other media have also broadcast the images that they now want to prohibit.
