Miriam Margolyes, who played Professor Pomona in the famous Harry Potter saga, is somewhat worried about adult fans of the franchise. The reason, according to the actress, is that the saga of the boy wizard is for children, and all those who remain obsessed with the magical world created by J.K. Rowling 25 years later they should reconsider his preferences.
The actress sat in an interview on Seven Sharp, a 1News program, on New Zealand public television, where she expressed this clear message for followers of the magical saga.
Margolyes played Professor Pomona Sprout, who taught one of Hogwarts' favorite subjects, Herbology; in addition to being headmistress of Hufflepuff House. The character appeared in two of the films in the saga: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (2011).
"I'm worried about Harry Potter fans, because they should have gotten over it by now. It's been 25 years and it's for kids. I think it's for kids," says the actress. "But they stay there, and I do cameos, and there are people who say, 'oh, we're going to have a Harry Potter-themed wedding,' and I think, 'My God, what's your first night of fun together going to be like.' "I can't even imagine it."
The actress clarifies that she considers Harry Potter and everything that surrounds it "wonderful", but everything had its moment. "I'm very grateful, but it's over," she insists. Last year, the actress confessed something similar in an interview with the British edition of Vogue. "I was very happy to get the part and I enjoyed being in it and meeting all the people, but it's not Charles Dickens."
The actress may believe that everyone should get over their Harry Potter stage, but it is obvious that Warner Bros., the production company in charge of exploiting the magical saga, do not think the same. Not only are those adult fans responsible for making the franchise one of the most lucrative of all time, but they plan to keep it that way in the future.
At the moment, the launch of a television series based on the famous saga is already planned for HBO Max, with a completely new cast and which is intended to cover seven seasons to cover the seven volumes of the novels, by 2026. To date No casting has been announced for the TV series, but Daniel Radcliffe, who played the unforgettable protagonist in the original saga, has said he is "definitely not pursuing it in any way" when it comes to appearing in the new show.
