David Beckham breaks his silence 20 years later about his affair with Rebecca Loos, his lover in Spain

Last Wednesday, Beckham, the documentary about the life and career of British soccer legend David Beckham, was presented in London. A film that can be seen on the Netflix platform and the entire family attended the premiere. Victoria Beckham, in particular, looked radiant in an elegant white pantsuit. The designer is also the exceptional protagonist of the documentary, since she has lived the most important moments in the life and career of her husband.

Also the most complicated ones, which has meant that the marriage has gone through various periods of crisis. The most notable one was in 2003, when the footballer's infidelity with his children's then nanny, Rebecca Loos, was revealed. Beckham was playing for Real Madrid at the time, and the news made headlines throughout the international press. “It was the unhappiest moment of my entire life,” says the former Spice Girl in the documentary.

The couple has been through all kinds of things in their personal lives since they met in the '90s. However, the pressure they received in 2003 was the worst they have ever had to face as a couple. The former footballer has always denied his affair with Loos, but now the two speak decisively about this matter, avoided for more than two decades.

An emotional David Beckham says that moment almost broke up his marriage. The former footballer admits that he felt like the couple was “drowning,” and that he felt “physically sick” every day while he tried to fight for their relationship. “It was the first time Victoria was a victim of that kind of pressure. I don't know how we survived that, honestly. Victoria is everything to me. Seeing her so hurt was very difficult, but we are fighters. We have fought for ourselves and our family. “It was worth it.”

On the verge of tears, Victoria Beckham admits that it was the hardest moment of her life. “It seemed like the world was against us. The reality was that we were against each other, if I'm honest. Until we arrived in Madrid I always felt like it was us against each other, but in Spain it didn't even feel like we had each other,” she recalls, insisting that it was something so sad that she can only describe it as a “nightmare.” “It was a circus, and everyone loves when the circus comes to town, right? Unless you are part of it.”

The woman who was accused of having the affair with David Beckham is not named throughout the documentary, but everyone knows that she is the British Rebecca Loos, former nanny of the couple's children. Since her affair became public, Loos took advantage of her moments of fame to appear on several television shows, earning, according to speculation, more than a million euros talking about the Beckhams.

However, years ago he opted for a life away from the cameras. Currently, at 45 years old, she lives in Norway with her husband, a doctor named Sven; and her two children, completely dedicated to yoga, meditation and the world of well-being. In one of her last interventions in the media she assured that she “did not regret anything” about what happened in her life. “I made a lot of bad decisions and they talked me into a lot of things. Of course, if I could go back in time I would change some things, but who wouldn't. I do not regret. I am very happy now".

Since then, the couple has made a common front and has shown that there is no crisis that they cannot overcome. “I always tried to ensure that nothing I did off the field affected what I did on the field, because I loved what I did and it was very important for me,” adds Beckham.

Even so, the former footballer regrets some things. Of course, he takes everything positively, because he has made him learn in one way or another. “Do I wish there were things that had never happened? Absolutely,” he says, adding that “but they have made me stronger as a person, as a player, as a human being, as a father and as a husband. If they hadn't happened, maybe I wouldn't have had the career I had."
