Carmen Sevilla's nieces clarify the controversy over the artist's ashes

Carmen Sevilla died on June 27 at the age of 92. The death of the artist left the world of the arts speechless, which dedicated tributes to her figure from all sectors of society. A very beloved woman, she had to abandon her career in 2009 after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's, a disease that deteriorated her health until her death.

Last Monday, October 16, his nieces, Carmen and Elena, daughters of his brother, Pepe García Galisteo; They celebrated a farewell for the artist to honor her on what would have been her 93rd birthday, attended by many of her great friends, although not her only son, Augusto Algueró. An occasion in which she also took the opportunity to address the controversy surrounding the whereabouts of the artist's ashes, presumably still in the Pozuelo Municipal Mortuary, more than three months after her death.

The farewell to the protagonist of Imperial Violets was full of emotion, and her nieces - contrary to the discretion with which her son has always been characterized - did come out to talk to the press, grateful that they had attended the appointment to celebrate the artist once again. "This was our parting gift to her," they declared.

Now, none of them wanted to answer about what happened to the ashes of the singer and presenter. Until now, it is assumed that the main part of them remained in the funeral home until a little less than a week ago, when one of them collected the other part. "She gave me the opportunity to pick them up, I picked them up and that's the story," she confirmed.

Carmen and Elena, as Vanitatis reported months ago, asked Carmen Sevilla's son to collect a part of her ashes so they could keep them and make a reliquary. Algueró agreed, and separated that part from the main one. During the collection, apparently, one of the workers assured the nieces that the main urn had not yet been collected by the only person authorized to do so: Augusto Algueró.

Elena García confirmed that her relationship with her cousin Augusto is "minimal", although not bad. Carmen Sevilla's son did not send any message to those attending this funeral mass organized by his cousins, as if he did the one celebrated by Father Ángel and Rappel on July 13.

Since her illness was confirmed, the artist remained in the most absolute anonymity, with only her son, Augusto Algueró, and few other people, knowing what became of the popular presenter. On her death, she was parted from her in "the strictest privacy" at the wish of her only son. The artist was always very loved by her audience and her professional colleagues, who regretted Algueró's decision to say goodbye to her without all of them. However, they decided to respect her decision as the actress's only child.

Even so, the artist's son has approximately one year to remove his mother's ashes. If he does not come, he will be contacted to ask if he prefers that they be scattered in a space provided in the crematorium itself.
