The discount on fuel for professional transporters drops from ten cents to five cents starting tomorrow, and will be valid until December 31, although the sector demands that the initial 20 cent reduction be applied again.

This measure tries to mitigate the rise in fuel prices caused by the war in Ukraine and was applied for the first time in March 2022.

After the start of the war, the Government approved a discount of 20 cents per liter, in force from April 1 to June 30, 2022, of which 15 cents were provided by the State and the other five by the oil companies, which offered plus another additional discount of 10 cents.

The Executive initially calculated that this measure would cost 1,423 million euros.

Since January of this year, the bonus only applies to professional transport. Initially it remained at 20 cents per liter of fuel, until April 1 when it was reduced to 10 cents with effect until September 30 and, from then on, to five cents.

The Spanish Confederation of Freight Transport (CETM) has called this week on the Government to raise the fuel bonus to the initial amount of 20 euro cents per liter to address the rise in fuel prices.

The CETM recalls that the Executive promised to review the bonus if the situation worsened and points out that it has now accumulated 11 consecutive weeks of increases
