A startup to do procedures with your mobile

Judith Bayes Cadena studied Political Science and became deputy to the chief of staff of the presidency of the Parliament of the Generalitat of Catalonia. However, it was a personal experience, unrelated to work, that opened his eyes to the slowness and complexity of procedures with public administrations. “My daughter had just asked me to give her a mermaid tail. I bought it through my cell phone, while she was taking the subway to do a procedure with a public administration. In 48 hours she had a very specific and unusual object at home. However, the process was still unresolved,” Bayes recalls.

After studying the problem and analyzing the market, the entrepreneur set out to found the startup Tramit Smart App in June 2017. She did so with the support of the entrepreneurial ecosystem 101 startups, which entered as a founding partner and capitalist, with a contribution of 155,000 euros . Despite having been diagnosed with breast cancer after a year, Bayes managed to move the company forward and in 2021 she carried out a first pilot test with the Valls City Council.

The solution designed by Tramit Smart App allows you to carry out, through your mobile phone, procedures that must be carried out in a specific period of time. “We all have a cell phone and we are used to using it. Not like a computer,” the entrepreneur points out as one of the keys to the startup's success. Another of the strong points of the solution is that it breaks with the limited schedules of the town councils. The procedures are registration for summer camps, requests for aid or scholarships, discounts on fees... "There was a case, in a City Council of 3,000 inhabitants, in which there was no in-person registration thanks to the Tramit Smart App," says the founder.

Premià de Mar, Móra d’Ebre, Cubelles or La Roca del Vallès are some of the municipalities that work with the startup. “We have pending contracts with 40 more municipalities, in Catalonia and Galicia, which we predict will increase turnover to 700,000 euros this year, compared to 80,000 euros in 2023,” Bayes advances. Based in the Tech Barcelona facilities, the startup wants to raise 350,000 euros in a financing round to hire five more people and begin to face internationalization towards markets such as Morocco, Ivory Coast, Latin America and neighboring Portugal, Italy and Greece.

Judith Bayes Cadena has been chosen by the EAE business school as one of the ten best female entrepreneurs in Catalonia.
