The terrace of the Beso Beach takes us back to a reality that belongs to the Instagram universe: there are hammocks in light tones and wooden tables, Hawaiian-style umbrellas and a fantastic pool where the white clouds are reflected. All around are African palm trees and a gentle Mediterranean breeze.
This open area is directly connected to the restaurant and the hall, which actually looks like a mix between a pop-up shop and an art gallery. No sign of reception. It is another space in which beiges, earthy colors and blues predominate. Yes, it inevitably refers us to the Mediterranean, it could be Eivissa or Mykonos, in this case it is Palmanova, a town in the south of the island of Mallorca, just 15 kilometers from the capital.
Zel is the new collection of establishments created by the famous Majorcan hotel group Meliá together with tennis player Rafael Nadal. The underlying concept is inspired by the Mediterranean, in a simple and carefree lifestyle, but which does not renounce elegance. Added to this commitment is Beso Beach, one of the benchmarks in this part of the planet in terms of beach clubs. His celebrated venue in Formentera gave way to other venues in Eivissa, Tulum and Sitges, to which this one is now added, on the island of Mallorca.
Another pleasant atmosphere is created in the restaurant, with lamps decorated with palm leaves, chic crockery, large glass jars with lemons, plants, and above all, incredible and hypnotic views over the sea, because all the space that covers the The famous Beso Beach, which is located on the ground floor of the newly opened Hotel Zel, is in front of the beach.
Its menu is a compendium of gastronomy's greatest hits, such as the T-bone steak, the Iberian cheese and sausage platters and the delicious carpaccios. You cannot miss the Andalusian gazpacho, the grilled octopus, the ceviches or its famous burratas, fresh and appetizing food for a day in which we want to give ourselves a small and necessary tribute.
Beyond this Edenic environment in Mallorca, the beach is the undisputed protagonist. From the Hotel Zel you only have to walk about ten meters to touch the sand. In fact, from the hammock on the terrace you can contemplate the horizon of the Bay of Palma, where the blue of the pool water overlaps with that of the Mediterranean Sea. In front, the white sand shelters the traditional summer images: a relaxed tourist sunbathing while reading an English suspense novel, a family devouring chocolate and cream ice cream or a group of young Englishmen playing volleyball.
The rooms continue with the conceptual and chromatic line, with pieces of local crafts and nods to Mediterranean culture. On an island, the location of the hotel is very important, so as not to have to spend more time than is strictly necessary in the car, and in this case it is a success. The Hotel Zel is only about 20 minutes from the historic center of the city and about 25 from the airport. It is also very close to the Tramuntana mountain range and charming towns such as Sant Elm or Andratx.
