“It is beautiful, powerful, distinctive, seductive, bold, modern and unique,” describes Narciso Rodriguez. She talks about her new perfume All of me, but it could also define the “confident, serene, daring and free-spirited” woman she addresses. There could be many more adjectives – as many as one wants, in fact – because the idea of the new fragrance is to encompass the thousand facets that exist in each one.
The designer has taken his time from his already iconic For Her, to create a proposal with a new point of view: from for her he has gone directly to her, to that woman of right now, complete and complex, sometimes contradictory, always different, that feels comfortable with the multiple puzzle that makes it up.
Narciso Rodriguez is “a great recognizer of aromas”, according to the perfumers of All of me, Daphné Bugey and Dora Baghriche. Both agree on “how unusual” it is to work with a creator who is so involved. His neighbors know this well, and remember the noise of his long nights searching for shapes for what would become the faceted bottle and cap for his perfume. He has even been involved in that, the architecture that fascinates him as a reference.
And in the aroma, of course. “I'm always looking for new ingredients and oils, creating combinations that I then put in a diffuser in my children's room. His room has become my laboratory. It is already a family tradition that they sleep every night with a new version of my experiments,” she explains.
“One of those versions was a beautiful, natural and intense blend of geranium, rose, sandalwood and musk. I was totally fascinated by it and tried many different variations of the ingredients until I shared them with perfumers. It seemed totally unique to me, different from anything I had smelled until now,” she says.
All of me wants to reinterpret femininity for new generations: “Its captivating power knows no age, but the current generation gives much more importance to expressing one's personality and appreciating individuality. Fragrance can contribute to this to a large extent and I wanted it to highlight all the facets that make a person unique,” Narciso reasons.
The musk that surprised so much in For Her is also the soul of All of me: “For me it is the most sensual of all essences. The idea that she smells different on each person seems fascinating to me. I think that's why I still find him so engaging and inspiring,” she states. In the new fragrance “it is wrapped in a deep and sumptuous nuance of geranium and rose. It transforms into the skin, creating an absolutely unique aroma on each person who wears it,” says Rodriguez.
Argentine model, artist and activist Mica Argañaraz is the face of All of me. “I chose her because of the fresh confidence that she gives off. She is warm, charismatic and feels comfortable in her skin. She has a unique style, very much her own. These are qualities that I admire,” says the designer. And she loves his haircut and his smile!
“All of me reminds us of the importance of living an authentic life and loving ourselves as we are,” says the model. “It's floral, but it's very different from all the other floral fragrances I've smelled so far. It's very engaging: the first time I tried it I couldn't stop smelling it again and again. As soon as you wear it, it becomes totally part of you,” she says.
What is Mica like?
My life motto is one step after another; I like to go through life light of luggage, both physically and emotionally to focus on what really matters and I dream of opening a small boutique hotel somewhere in South America.
Is it as multifaceted as the fragrance it represents?
I can be ten different people in one day! I have a very creative and artistic side, but at the same time I am very impulsive and determined. I am quite independent and know what I want, although sometimes I also doubt and need the support of my people. I can change a lot from one day to the next. Some nights I'm the last one to leave the party and yet other days I just want to curl up on my couch watching something good on Netflix and having a takeaway dinner. I'm super social, but I also need my time alone.
