The PSPV-PSOE has presented motions in all city councils to demand "the commitment of the entire Valencian Community in the eradication and prevention of sexist violence in all its expressions" on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Gender Violence, which is celebrate next week.

This was announced this Sunday by the Deputy Secretary of Equality of the Valencian Socialists, Rosa Peris, who pointed out that "public representatives have the responsibility and obligation to ensure the security and rights of citizens."

In this sense, the socialist leader has stressed that "we must guarantee environments free of violence and protect the victims" and has highlighted that "with the approval of the first Valencian pact against gender and sexist violence, important progress has been achieved, but it is not enough and we must continue working decisively in the fight."

With this, he has asked the Consell to approve the II Valencian Pact against gender and sexist violence and to collaborate with the associative network that works "for equality and the fight against gender violence."

Likewise, Peris has warned that "the data on murdered women continues to be terrifying" and recalled that "murder is the most dramatic expression of violence against women, but women suffer different forms of violence every day."

For this reason, he explained, he urges the Valencian administrations to support awareness-raising, equality education and violence prevention initiatives, paying special attention to childhood, adolescence and youth.

"Gender violence is a violation of human rights and an obstacle to the development of a full democracy, it cannot be made invisible, it is essential that the entire Valencian Community joins this fight," he concluded.
