National Police agents managed to stop the profuse bleeding suffered by a 22-year-old young man who lost his hand due to the explosion of a firecracker and saved his life thanks to the emergency tourniquet they performed on his arm.
The events occurred at two in the morning on March 19, during the Night of the Foc in Valencia, when two agents from the Police Intervention Unit (UIP) who were serving that night treated the young man who was seriously injured when a bomb exploded. firecracker in hand, the National Police reported this Friday.
The agents were requested by several citizens on Avenida Jacinto Benavente in València, where apparently a man was seriously injured.
The police officers immediately got out of the vehicles and located a young man lying on the sidewalk, who had his right hand amputated, as well as burns on his face and head, stating that moments before a pyrotechnic device had exploded in his hand.
Given the severity of the wounds, the agents quickly applied an emergency tourniquet to his arm and managed to stop the extensive bleeding that the victim was suffering until the health order arrived. Subsequently, an indicator from the Valencia Local Police came to support.
The victim was then assisted and transferred by the SAMU to a hospital and the medical staff highlighted that the quick action of the agents saved the young man's life and prevented him from bleeding to death.
Sources from the Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU) reported on March 20 that around two in the morning on Sunday they received notice of an injured person near the Alameda metro station.
A SAMU unit traveled to the scene and, after treating the injured man, who they reported was a 35-year-old man, transferred him to the La Fe Hospital in València with a "catastrophic" right hand and multiple burns.
