The bulls of La Palmosilla have displayed the fame that precedes them and have exhibited nobility in the first running of the bulls of the 2023 Sanfermines, massive and without serious injuries. The race has been, at times, dangerous, since the horned Scandalito has been left behind, with the risk that it entails; however, there have been no gorings, by a matter of millimeters in some cases. The first medical report reports four ambulance transfers, although none of them are serious.
As usual, the desire for confinement has been felt and the route has been filled with runners since 7.15 am, the time when the accesses to the 870-meter route close on the busiest days.
At 8:00 a.m., the time has come, after a year of waiting. The rancher Miguel Reta has given entry to the herd, and, already on the slope of Santo Domingo, the first moments of tension have been experienced, especially after a bull has slipped and threatened to herd the runners located to his left . It hasn't been like that. The morlaco has exhibited the first gesture of nobility and has moved on.
Before the Mercaderes curve, still close to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, there was a second moment of tension, when another of the horns almost hit a runner. Again, he has freed and the herd has continued towards the square.
The moment of greatest tension, however, has been experienced just after the Mercaderes curve, where the anti-slip has worked and there have been no slips from the bulls. A young man, however, has been reborn, when after standing still he has seen the left horn of a morlaco pass by a few centimeters (in the photo below). He has caressed him, but he has not even hurt him.
It was after that moment when the herd began to stretch. First, they are two bulls behind, something that can be dangerous. Later, a single horn has been left behind. it was scandalous Runners have fallen and Estafeta street was crowded. There could have been scares, if it weren't for the nobility of the horned cattle from Cádiz.
A small pile has formed on the Telefónica curve; the morlacos, however, have acted as if it were not with them and have moved on. Just before entering the alley, a young man has been in front of one of the bulls, which has given the impression of wanting to avoid the charge and has not even touched him. Amazing.
In the alley there have been several falls and a waiter has given the sensation of being unconscious. The herd has passed over him and he has entered the square, although without Scandalito.
The herd has closed the confinement in 2 minutes and 11 seconds, although the last morlaco has lagged behind up to 2 minutes and 32 seconds. For a moment it was feared that it could have caused mishaps in the final meters. The danger of a lagging horn is known in Pamplona. However, the bull from La Palmosilla has closed the tour showing off the nobility that characterizes them. And so they have closed a clean, beautiful first confinement, without serious injuries, dangerous at times and massive.
