The image testifies to the increase in the water level of the Sau reservoir after the long drought

The Sau reservoir is on its way to reaching 7% of its capacity, gradually moving away from the 1% a few weeks ago, when the reservoir was practically dry due to the persistent and long drought in Catalonia.

But, the last Easter rains are taking effect and the reservoir, although it may not seem like it at first glance, is already gaining water flow. And there is an element that is testing.

The old flour mill and mill of Sant Romà de Sau was almost without water in the photograph taken for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia last 2-27-24.

In general, in Catalonia, the March rains ensure two months of reserves but do not solve the drought. The Ter and Llobregat reserves have increased, but the Government will not suspend the maximum alert until the recovery of levels is relevant and safe.

In the case of Sau, we can compare the same image that we have seen from last February with that of 4-3-24, that is, after the last rains. As you can see, you can hardly see the old flour mill and the mill, which are being submerged in the water again.
