Extremely hot day on the Costa del Sol and the Guadalhorce Valley, in the province of Malaga, where the mercury will reach 42 degrees. The State Meteorological Agency has activated the red warning today at this point in the community, an alert that will be maintained from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

But the rest of Andalusia is not spared from the suffocating temperatures either. Points of Almería, Córdoba, Jaén and Seville are under orange warning while Cádiz, Granada and Huelva have yellow alert.

This third wave of heat continues to wreak havoc in the region and keeps the Andalusian Forest Fire Fighting services on alert. In fact, the Infoca firefighters, through their social networks, have published some maps of the region where the risk of fire is extreme and in which it can be seen how, as the week progresses, hot spots spread throughout Andalusian geography.

If today, Wednesday, attention is focused on Córdoba and Jaén, the situation becomes more complicated tomorrow, when Huelva, Seville and some point in Granada are added to these two provinces. On Friday, in addition, some areas of Almería will also be at extreme risk due to fires.

This situation has been repeated throughout the summer. This July, as Aemet has pointed out, is the third hottest month in the historical series, only surpassed by July 2022 and 2015. For now, in its first 17 days, temperatures higher than normal have been reached daily.

Although the heat is expected to subside on Thursday and Friday, the State Meteorological Agency announces a new rise in temperatures for the weekend.

According to the information on the Aemet website, in the province of Malaga the red warning has been activated in the area of ​​the Costa del Sol and Guadalhorce, due to maximum temperatures of 42º. In Antequera and Axarquía, the Aemet has activated the orange warning, for maximums of 40 and 39 degrees, respectively, and in Ronda the yellow warning weighs, where the thermometers will reach 38 degrees Celsius.

In the province of Almería, only in Valle del Almanzora and Los Vélez has the orange warning been activated, due to maximums of 42 degrees, while in Nacimiento and Campo de Tabernas the yellow warning has been activated, due to maximums of 39 degrees.

In the same way, with regard to the province of Córdoba, only the Cordoba countryside has an orange warning, due to maximum temperatures of 42 degrees. However, in Sierra and Pedroches, and Subbética in Cordoba, Aemet has activated the yellow alert for heat, with highs of 39º, respectively.

In Jaén, the orange warning has been activated in Morena and Condado, and in the Guadalquivir Valley, where the thermometers will register, in both areas, maximums of 42 degrees Celsius. While in Cazorla and Segura, the capital and Montes, the yellow warning has been activated, due to maximums of 39º.

As for the province of Seville, only in the Sevillian countryside has the orange warning been activated, where the maximum 40 degrees will be reached. And in the northern and southern mountains of the province, the yellow warning has been activated, for maximums of 39º, respectively.

In Cádiz, the Aemet has activated the yellow warning in Grazalema and the Cádiz countryside, with highs of 38 degrees.

In the province of Granada, the yellow warning weighs in the Cuenca del Genil, Guadix and Baza, for maximums of 39 degrees, respectively, as well as in Nevada and Alpujarras, where the maximum will be 36º.

Finally, in Huelva, the State Meteorological Agency has activated the yellow warning for heat in Andévalo and Condado, where thermometers will reach maximums of 38 degrees.
