Feijóo: the Housing law is "the surrender of the PSOE towards populism and independence"

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, charged again this Thursday against the Housing law that was approved this same day in the Congress of Deputies by assuring that it supposes "the surrender of the PSOE towards populism and independence." The popular made express reference to Bildu and Esquerra Republicana, formations that have been key to moving forward with this rule, which imposes limits on increases in rental prices.

From Zaragoza, the popular insisted that the regulatory text will lead to an increase in prices and a reduction in the supply of housing in the national market, and that it does not respond to the illegal squatting of 50 homes that, he said, occur every day in Spain.

"Populism, price intervention and illegal squatting of housing is not compatible with what the vast majority of citizens who are renting, paying a mortgage" or who have just paid it and do not want anyone to settle in their homes think " illegally," he added.

In his third visit to the capital maña so far this year, Feijóo also charged against the "unfulfilled and overheated" promises of the Government of Pedro Sánchez in terms of housing. He also affirmed that his party does not intend to do "not a single one" if the municipalities do not put the ground and the autonomous communities do not execute them, for which reason he stated that the first thing is to "agree" with these public administrations.

Likewise, he stressed his willingness to help young people who want to buy or rent a residence with guarantees and to make municipal land available for housing in order to lower sales or rental prices “by 40%”.

In another order of affairs, Feijóo defended the position of his party in Europe, whose president, Manfred Weber, recently accused the European Commission of "campaigning" the Spanish government regarding the Andalusian bill on the Doñana Park. "I have nothing to add to the position of the first party in Europe (the PPE) and its president," he maintained.

However, he asserted that "it is evident" that there is "a use of the Government to campaign", as he believes that the two sentences of the Central Electoral Board prove the spokesperson for "holding rallies at the press conference of the Council of Ministers ” and for maintaining a campaign of “harassment and demolition against the opposition leader”.

Finally, the popular said he did not share the "triumphalism" of the Government in economic matters and pointed out that the latest figures on unemployment released this Thursday are "bad data." "The Spanish have less and less money in their pockets, pay more taxes and have less purchasing power," he criticized.

Feijóo is expected to complete his journey through tricky lands with a visit to Huesca, where he will participate in an act to support the PP candidates for community government, Jorge Azcón, and the Zaragoza city council, Natalia Chueca.
