Ex-footballer Lior Asulin, murdered by Hamas, dies

The world continues to be shocked by the situation between Israel and Palestine. So far, more than 1,100 deaths have been recorded, and as confirmed by Hapoel Tel Aviv, one of them was the Israeli footballer Lior Asulin.

The former footballer for teams such as Maccabi Herzliya, Beitar Jerusalem or Bnei Yehuda, among others. He was celebrating his 43rd birthday in a center in Israel when the armed Hamas group entered the premises and killed dozens of people, including that of the now retired Asulin.

As confirmed by Hapoel Tel Aviv, Lior Asulin was murdered by Palestinians in Ra'im: "Great sadness after many hours in which he was declared missing, it is now known that the club's former player, Lior Asulin, was murdered by terrorists at a party in Ra'im. Hapoel Tel Aviv Football Club bows its head and asks to send reinforcements to Lior's family members in their difficult time."

After his long career in Israel and his time with several teams in the country, Asulin was a player considerably known throughout the territory. This has meant that the news of his death has spread quickly and the teams in which he had played wanted to say goodbye to him with a series of emotional messages.

"We express our condolences to the Asulin family for the loss of former player Lior Asulin. Lior was part of Bnei Sakhnin F.C.'s victory in the 2003-2004 State Cup, his special behavior is engraved in the hearts of his friends. With great pain for him, we bring our prayers to the Creator of the world so that he may receive his mercy. May his memory be a blessing." He expressed his former club, Bnei Sakhnin F.C., in a statement.

The terrible outbreak of this conflict has also affected national sport, and with the difficult situation that the country is currently experiencing and to avoid any risk, UEFA has suspended all the matches that were scheduled for the coming weeks.
