Compromís opens the door for Mónica Oltra to lead the coalition again

The spokesperson for Compromís in Congress, Águeda Micó, has opened the door for the former vice president of the Valencian Government Mónica Oltra to return to the front line of politics if she wants, after learning this Tuesday of the provisional dismissal of the judicial case opened against she.

"Mónica is an exceptional person, a reference for our organization. She is a great politician and will always be what she wants to be within Compromís. She has never left and if she wants to return to the political front line we will wait for her with open arms," he said. Micó at a press conference in Congress after insisting that neither Oltra nor the party was wrong when it was decided that he would leave his position, in June 2022.

"We were not wrong, we did what we had to do because the Compromís political project was above him and he was clear about it," he said after emphasizing that this case took its toll on the Botànic Government (PSPV-PSOE, Compromís and Unidas Can).

Micó has lamented the "injustice" suffered by Otra and his department team "due to a clear case of political persecution" and has criticized those responsible who at the judicial, political and media levels "have not been up to the task." "This injustice that has been committed against her and against all our people will weigh on her conscience," he reiterated.

For his part, Carlos Mazón assured this Tuesday that "the fact that Maite, the victim of sexual abuse committed by the ex-husband of the former vice president of the Valencian Government Mónica Oltra, has not been apologized for, is not acceptable." Mazón made these statements at the Palau de la Generalitat when asked about the dismissal of the judicial case opened against the former vice president of the Consell for the administrative management of that case of abuse.

"As always, I fully respect the judicial decisions. I think they are not yet firm in any case," said the president, who has insisted that he has said, says and will say that every day that passes without asking Maite for forgiveness, the girl who suffered abuse with final sentences and still pending execution, "it is an act that is not acceptable."

Mazón has condemned the fact that the victim was not asked for forgiveness "regardless of the judicial responsibilities attached or not", because the Generalitat was responsible for his protection.
