The last week of the year is also the week in which we begin to think about our goals for 2024. We want to start the new year with the excitement of the first day of school, like someone looking at a notebook with blank pages.
I stopped making big resolutions a long time ago (running a marathon, learning jiu-jitsu or reading all of Rosa Montero's books), because I have already achieved some of them in previous years, and because I find more and more pleasure in simple and achievable.
One of the things I always propose in this column is to make the effort to cook more as a family. The advantage is that it is a daily activity that we have to do anyway, so why not make it a moment to share.
The second thing is that, by cooking with your dependents, you are preparing them for life. If there was one thing I was grateful for while studying away from home, it was having the skill and knowledge to make a potato omelette that would last me three days.
And third, it is in the kitchen where great family memories, the flavors of childhood, and the richest conversations are made. In 2024, climb Everest, if you want, but under no circumstances should you stop cooking as a family.
The last menu of the year begins like the first: with the
Baked preparations
Preparations with sofrito
Fire preparations
