Andorra-La Seu airport launches route to Palma

Yesterday Air Nostrum inaugurated the route between the Andorra-La Seu d'Urgell airport and Palma de Mallorca, which will be extended as a pilot test. The ATR-72 plane, with 41 passengers, left Mallorca at nine in the morning and landed in La Seu at ten. Afterwards he returned to Son Sant Joan with 17 people. There will be flights every Friday and Sunday. For this Sunday the forecast is that it will leave with 32 passengers and the return to Son Sant Joan with 49.

The Andorran government finances this new route that is added to the regular route between Andorra-La Seu and Madrid, which the same company has offered for two years and which also operates on Fridays and Sundays. In this time, the Seu d'Urgell airport has received more than 19,000 passengers, including users of the Air Nostrum route and corporate aviation.

The Minister of Territory, Ester Capella, and the Minister of Tourism and Commerce of Andorra, Jordi Torres, received the passengers of the first flight.

Capella stated that the airport is synonymous with the success of the collaboration between the Catalan and Andorran governments and the minister highlighted the importance of this new route "with the aim of continuing to grow, we began this link with the Balearic Islands, a market very interested in visiting us and with whom we hope to have a successful connection.” Torres insisted that this is a milestone that has been reached after an extensive tour of the Pyrenean airport: “In three days it will be nine years since this infrastructure was reopened for public and commercial use and since then, all parties involved They have worked tirelessly to overcome milestones that have taken us to where we are today, from the small reforms that have made the airport more functional and pleasant for passengers, to large objectives already achieved such as the implementation of instrument landings based only on navigation by satellite or the establishment of a regular line that has been operating for two years, that of Madrid.”

Air Nostrum reported that the ticket price will cost from 50 euros per flight, with a 75% discount for residents living in the Balearic Islands. The company announced that internal connection with the airports of Ibiza and Menorca will be facilitated with the same flight ticket between Andorra and Palma.

"For us, this flight is another example of the good collaboration between public administrations, in this case the Generalitat, since the airport is theirs, also the Government of Spain and, of course, the Principality of Andorra, which is ultimately the promoter of this new line,” added the mayor of La Seu d'Urgell, Joan Barrera, who showed his confidence that the test will go well and have continuity.
