The City Council of Vilassar de Mar (Maresme) has organized an event to recognize the footballer this Friday to convey the gratitude and pride that having an athlete of her quality represents for the municipality. Ona has already become a benchmark for many girls and boys who play soccer or who want to start doing so.
The event will begin this Friday, September 1, at 6:30 p.m. From the balcony of the Town Hall, the mayoress Laura Martínez Portell will welcome the footballer and publicly congratulate her on the title she has achieved and her career. After a few words from the honoree, there will be a firecracker from the roof and, in the Town Hall square, a performance by the groups of the Mansuets de Foc and the AVAL. Next, Ona is scheduled to go down to the Town Hall square to share the emotional moment with the public.
Born in Vilassar de Mar on June 10, 1999, Ona Batlle had her first contact with the ball in the coastal town of Maresme, where she began her career with the UE Vilassar de Mar. She played with boys her age until a A Barça observer saw her in a tournament she was playing with the Catalan under-12 team and suggested she do a trial with the Catalan club.
Ona signed for Barça and moved to La Masia in 2011, the football school that took her through the Barça teams of all categories until reaching Barça Atlètic, in the women's Second Division. With the Madrid Club de Fútbol Femenino she made her debut in the Primera División. Later, her talent led her to one of the best teams in the Women's League, Levante CF, and, later, to Manchester United, before returning to FC Barcelona this summer, already consolidated as one of the most solvent full-backs in the International panorama.
