Mike Vecchione scored 3:21 into overtime to complete a Union comeback Friday night, as the Dutchmen kept their ECAC title hopes in their own hands with a 4-3 victory over Colgate at Hamilton.
Union (23-8-2, 16-4-1 ECAC) will clinch the regular-season title and a No. 1 playoff seed with a victory Saturday night at Cornell, which beat the Dutchmen earlier in the season. Harvard remained one point behind Union in the standings with a 4-1 home victory over Clarkson.
The Dutchmen trailed 3-2 late in the third before Sebastian Vidmar netted his 14th goal of the season with 4:43 to play in regulation.
Vecchione, who helped set up Vidmar's goal, then made sure Union got both standings points with his 25th.
Ryan Walker and Luc Brown also scored for Union in a game that saw neither team lead by more than one goal.
Goalie Alex Sakellaropoulos made 20 saves to earn the win for the Dutchmen.
Union held a 35-23 shots-on-goal advantage.
Colgate fell to 8-19-6 and 6-12-3 with the loss.
