The Spanish artistic gymnastics team qualifies for Paris 2024

The Spanish men's artistic gymnastics team qualified this Sunday for the Paris 2024 Games by finishing ninth in the qualification round of the world championships in Antwerp, which distributed nine Olympic places. It is the second consecutive time that the team, now under the command of Benjamín Bango, has qualified in its entirety for the Games.

After finishing sixth on Saturday, and with eight other teams still to compete, the Spaniards witnessed in Sunday's session how only the teams from Canada, Italy and Switzerland were ahead of them, enough to stay in ninth final position and secure themselves the games.

China, Japan and Great Britain already had their team places tied since last year. The other nine that were decided this Sunday in Antwerp were those of the United States, Canada, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey, the Netherlands and Ukraine.

Japan topped the qualifying round, ahead of the United States and Great Britain, and the top eight will compete in the world team final on Tuesday. China defends the title won in 2022.

The individual classification was dominated by the Japanese gymnasts, who took the first three places. Thus, Kenta Chiba remains the main favorite to win the title in the all-around competition on Thursday, finishing ahead of her compatriots Kazuma Kaya and Daiki Hashimoto, who defends the title and is also an Olympic champion.
