The future of American football in Spain

Badalona has recently hosted the Young Football Camp with the presence of two professional NFL players, an event that we review in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

The Badalona Dracs, a historic American football team from this city, also collaborated as hosts at this clinic.

Dean of American football in Spain, this club has an extensive resume in terms of championships won and participation in Europe, not only for the senior team but also in all its lower categories and the women's section.

Two NFL stars visited Badalona to share their experience with a group of boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 19.

One is Andre Cisco, a player for the Jacksonville Jaguars. This player was selected in the third round of the Draft in 2021. His position on the pitch is Safety.

The other is Micah Parsons, a player for the Dallas Cowboys. He was selected in the first round of the Draft in 2021. His position on the field of play is Linebacker. He was rookie of the year in the 2021-2022 season and has been among the top three defensemen in the 2022-2023 league.

The faces of illusion were reflected not only in the boys and girls, but in all the attendees. There were supporters with caps and jerseys of their teams. For the most part fathers and mothers. Also some fans who came to Badalona to witness the event.

After the clinic with the boys and girls, a press conference began for the media that attended the event. They answered everything that was asked in a relaxed atmosphere. They were very close with the entire public and the media specific to this sport. The general press was missed at an event like this. It's not every day that professional NFL players visit us.

Proof of this, it must be mentioned that, since January, the National competition began with Serie A and B. Here in Catalonia also the Catalan League.

There are also Flag Football competitions where there is no contact. This modality is ideal to introduce you to Football from a young age and learn the technique without receiving blows.

Visiting the website of the Spanish American Football Federation (FEFA) or in the case of Catalonia (FCFA) you can keep up to date with the competitions that are closest to you. FEFA also indicates the different National Territorial Federations.

You can also enjoy this sport from June to September with the Barcelona Dragons, who are playing this year at the Olímpic in Terrassa in the European League of Football (ELF).

A team made up of 50 players, four of which are American, six European and the rest national. A highly recommended show.

As you can see in this report, this so-called minority sport is full of dates throughout the year. A perfect opportunity to get to know him up close.
