Sebastian Vettel leaves the door open to a possible return to Formula 1

German driver Sebastian Vettel, four-time Formula 1 world champion, did not rule out a possible return to the Great Circus next season, after retiring last year.

Vettel, now 36 years old, is six years younger than the oldest driver on the grid, Fernando Alonso, who returned to competition after a few years of retirement and is driving an Aston Martin this year with which he is third in the World Championship with 170 points.

Asked on Sky Sports about a possible return to competition, as Nigel Mansell, Alonso himself and Kimi Raikkonen have already done, Vettel said that he cannot rule out anything, because he does not know what will happen.

"I think if you had asked everyone, some would have told you that they would not come back, but in the end they came back, so I can't rule it out," added the German, who won his four World Cups with Red Bull.

Vettel admitted that to convince him to return to competition he would have to have a good "challenge" ahead of him, after in his two years at Aston Martin he was very far from competing for victories or podiums.
