Ilaix Moriba returns to the League on loan to Getafe

Ilaix Moriba returns to the League. This was confirmed this morning by Getafe through a statement in which they announced the hiring of him until the end of the season on loan. The 20-year-old player is currently with the Guinea national team to compete in the Africa Cup, so he will be part of the blue team once the international competition concludes.

To date, Moriba belonged to the German RB Leipzig of the Bundesliga, a team for which he signed for 16 million euros in August 2021. However, just a few months later he would end up in January 2022 at Valencia, a team with which he coincided with José Bordalás, current Getafe coach, with whom he played in the Copa del Rey final in the 2021-22 season. Both meet again at the Coliseum.

Moriba played 46 games during his time at Mestalla, including all competitions: League, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup. A dynamic that contrasts with the one in which he arrives at the Madrid team today, without a competitive rhythm, since in the current campaign he has not played a single match under Marco Rose at Leipzig.

It should be noted that Barça reserves 10% of a future sale of Ilaix Moriba. The midfielder wore the Blaugrana shirt during the 2020-21 season, when Ronald Koeman was still directing the benches of the culé team. Moriba played 18 games with the Barça jersey and even scored with it on March 6, 2021, in Barcelona's victory against Osasuna at El Sadar, on league matchday number 26 of that season.

Regarding the domestic championship, Ilaix Moriba at 20 years old has played a total of 52 games in which he has distributed 5 assists. In the Bundesliga, he has only played six games in two seasons for Leipzig, a team with which he has neither scored nor provided any assists to date.
