Getafe signs a victory with its head

Getafe, with three headed goals from the Serbians Stefan Mitrovic and Nemanja Maksimovic and another from José Ángel Carmona, beat Osasuna, who twice recovered from the blows of their rival but could not add a victory that eludes them in the Alfonso Pérez Coliseum in the last eleven league games, since March 30, 2008.

The match was marked by the intense rain that fell on the Coliseum, especially in the first half, in which both teams were slowed down by the slips that occurred in certain controls of the ball.

Osasuna took to the pitch with a very renewed eleven, with seven new additions and the presence of five youth players, among them the recently renewed Iker Muñoz, who formed in the midfield along with Aimar Oroz and Moi Gómez.

So much novelty did not affect the tactical approach of Jagoba Arrasate, whose team took control of the ball in the first thirty minutes, in which they recorded two dangerous chances, one with a long-range shot by 'Chimy' Ávila that went down the right side. from David Soria's goal and another with a header from Ante Budimir, coming off a corner, which the Madrid goalkeeper caught.

Getafe, without being dominant, waited for their opportunity and it came from a set piece. The Uruguayan Damián Suárez put a measured cross from the right corner to the head of Stefan Mitrovic, who, ahead of Iker Muñoz, finished off across the goal.

Before the break, Osasuna equalized after a good play culminated by Iker Muñoz, who recovered from his internal error with a mid-height volley inside the area after a pass from his teammate Aimar Oroz.

The second half began with a frenetic pace that benefited Getafe, who once again took the lead on the scoreboard through José Ángel Carmona, who, coming from behind, headed a cross into the area from the left by Diego Rico that caught Diego Rico off guard. Sergio Herrera.

The joy was short-lived for the Madrid team because almost immediately David Soria knocked down Budimir inside the area and the Croatian, from eleven meters, did not miss.

The equality on the scoreboard reflected what was seen on the pitch, with two teams trying to hurt their rival but failing to impose their dominance over the other, something that forced both coaches to look for solutions on the bench.

The biggest applause went to Mason Greenwood, whose arrival at Getafe on loan from Manchester United has been mired in controversy. Without playing since January 2022, the British came out with great enthusiasm, tried to participate in the game, and left a couple of flashes of quality in offensive plays that got the public out of their seats.

When it seemed that the game was languishing without a clear dominator, Getafe, again from set pieces and again with a header, scored again. This time it was after a corner kick by Carlos Aleñà from the right corner that Nemanja Maksimovic headed into the back of the net.
