Easton 51, Parkland 31 – Rapid Recap

Easton Area High School’s girls basketball team might be the No. 3 seed, but the Red Rovers played like the top dogs on Monday night.

Easton defeated second-seeded Parkland 51-31 in the District 11 Class 6A semifinals at Catasauqua High School.

Turning point: Kyla Smith and Shelby Stocker knocked down two 3-pointers, on assists from Gabby Bloshuk, and Easton’s offense was off and running in the first quarter.

The Red Rovers never trailed and had a 14-6 lead at the end of the opening period, after bucket from Leanna Deegan on another Bloshuk assist.

Top performers: Bloshuk finished with a game-high 14 points for Easton. Deegan added nine points and Stocker had eight.

Kassidy Stout paced Parkland with 11 points.

What it means: Easton (23-4) advances to meet the Nazareth/Northampton winner in the District 11 championship Thursday at a time and site to be determined.

Parkland (18-7) will face the Nazareth/Northampton loser in the third-place game.
