Carlos Alcaraz and Jan-Lennard Struff will face each other in the grand final of the Mutua Madrid Open 2023. They will do so this Sunday, May 7, in the afternoon session of the prestigious Madrid tournament. Obviously, the Murcian is the top favorite to lift the title.
Alcaraz does not give up. In his debut in the tournament he left doubts, but since then he has only passed over his rivals. He has beaten Ruusuvuori, Dimitrov, Zverev, Khachanov and Coric, who was the last to succumb to the Murcian hurricane in a simple match.
The one who has had to fight, and a lot, is Jan-Lennard Struff. The German tennis player lost in the previous phase of the tournament against Aslan Karatsev. And since then he has been beating the rest of the rivals, including Karatsev in the semifinals. Of course, he has been leaving a set in each game since the third round. Therefore, he has a great accumulation of minutes in the legs.
This will be the third time they meet. In the previous two they have always done it in five-set matches and Alcaraz has always prevailed. However, at Wimbledon 2022, the Murcian had to sweat a lot to defeat the German in five sleeves.
