Alcaraz gets off Davis to rest

The tennis player Albert Ramos will replace Carlos Alcaraz in the Spanish team for the group stage of the Davis Cup Tennis Finals, which will be held in Valencia from September 12 to 17, as confirmed by the Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) this Saturday.

Carlos Alcaraz, who was eliminated this Friday in the semifinals of the United States Open, already left his participation with Spain up in the air at the conclusion of the match. "I have to see it. In the end it has been a long tour (through North America), intense. I have to listen to my body to see what it asks of me. We will see tomorrow how I get up," he said in a press conference.

The Spanish tennis player explained that in recent days he has taken care of himself "more than usual" and cited the bandage on his left thigh that he has worn in several matches at the US Open. "We will see tomorrow what my body asks for." But what I can say is that it has been quite a long tour and I need a rest, but tomorrow I will see," he added.

The group stage of the Davis Cup Finals will be held from September 12 to 17 in Valencia (Spain), Bologna (Italy), Manchester (England) and Split (Croatia). From November 21 to 26, the eight best will play for the title in Malaga (Spain).

With David Ferrer as captain, Spain is part of group C and will face Serbia, South Korea and the Czech Republic in Valencia. After his historic victory at Wimbledon, Alcaraz returned to competition in August at the Toronto Masters 1,000 (eliminated in the quarterfinals) and the Cincinnati Masters 1,000 (finalist against Djokovic) before traveling to New York, where these weeks he defended his last year's US Open title

The Russian Daniil Medvedev defeated him this Friday in the semifinals of the 'big' New Yorker by 7-6(3), 6-1, 3-6 and 6-3 after a very exciting match of three hours and 19 minutes.
