The beginning of the week will be marked by rain, strong gusts of wind and a general increase in temperatures, more pronounced in the interior of the peninsula, although the values ​​will continue to be significantly low in the Pyrenees, according to the forecast of the State Agency of Meteorology (Aemet).

For this Monday, an Atlantic circulation is expected, with a frontal system that will travel across the Peninsula from west to east, leaving cloudy or overcast skies and precipitation in its wake. More intense are expected in Galicia, with significant accumulations in its western part. They are not expected to reach the Mediterranean area.

After the passage of the frontal system, large clearings will tend to open in the west, although an unstable environment will persist with showers in Galicia and the Cantabrian Sea, continues the Aemet.

It will continue to snow in some parts of the country, such as in the mountains of the northern peninsula and less likely in the central mountains. The snow level in the northwest will be 1200/1600 meters, dropping to 800/1000 meters throughout the day. In the Pyrenees, any elevation rising to 1200/1600 meters. In addition, the yellow warning has been activated there due to the risk of avalanches.

Intense winds will blow from the west in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, strong or with very strong intervals in the Cantabrian Sea, the north and the coasts of Galicia, Alborán, the Balearic Islands, Ampurdán, the lower Ebro and the pre-coastal mountain ranges of the eastern third. In these areas, the yellow warning of up to 60 kilometers per hour has been activated.

Maximum temperatures will increase across the board, more markedly in the interior of the peninsula. The minimums will decrease in the northeastern third, Mallorca and areas of the southeast, increasing in the northwest quadrant and without major changes in the rest, according to the agency's forecast.

Light frosts are expected in much of the northern half of the peninsula and the southeastern mountains. They will be moderate in the extreme north and strong in the Pyrenees, where the warning has been activated for minimum temperatures of up to minus 6 degrees.
