Starting this Wednesday, Storm Irene will leave strong or very strong wind gusts in almost the entire country and rainfall, which will accumulate between 40 and 60 liters per square meter in 12 hours, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

With the influence of this storm and the passage of associated fronts, a predominance of cloudy skies with practically generalized precipitation is expected, although it will be less probable and weak and dispersed in the eastern Cantabrian Sea and in the eastern and northeastern thirds, with the exception of the Pyrenees. where they will be more abundant. It is not expected that the extreme southeast of the peninsula will be reached.

Precipitation can be locally strong and persistent in the west of the Peninsula, where occasional storms could occur, specifically in the west of Galicia and the Central system, as well as in western Andalusia.

The yellow notice has been activated due to significant accumulations in 12 hours in several provinces: Cádiz, Pontevedra, Seville, Ávila, Salamanca, Huesca, Badajoz, Cáceres, Zamora, Toledo, Ourense and Lleida.

Storm Irene will leave very strong gusts of wind in large areas of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, with the exception of the non-Pyrenean areas of the extreme northeast, where it will generally be weak. The agency has activated the warnings in almost the entire country, although it will only be orange in three communities: La Rioja, Galicia and Castilla y León.

As for temperatures, maximum temperatures will increase in the northeastern third of the peninsula, decreasing in the rest, although in areas of the Mediterranean they will continue to widely exceed 20 degrees. The minimums will rise in the southwest and northeast, descending in Castilla y León and without major changes in the rest. Only weak and limited frosts are expected in the Pyrenees.
