The AEMET responds to the threats received in recent days: "Not everything goes"

The State Meteorological Agency, AEMET, has been receiving insults and threats on social networks for a few days for talking about the climate crisis. And this Friday, he has decided to respond with a video.

In it, the AEMET collects only some of the messages and insults that it has received for days, such as: "murderers", "we are watching you", "criminals", "miserable", "information hitmen at the service of the wrong", and many more.

"We understand (social networks) as a space for meeting and closeness with society, fans and professionals," says the AEMET in the letter that accompanies the video. "We share our work and knowledge. We are respectful of freedom of expression and we appreciate the interaction. But everything is not worth it," concludes the State Meteorological Agency.

For his part, Cayetano Torres, AEMET spokesman, was interviewed this afternoon on Más Vale Tarde on La Sexta and stated that, despite the fact that "this is not something new", since the pandemic "attacks have been increasing from level".

In said interview, Cayetano Torres has also acknowledged that "a lot of attacks have arisen as a result of climate change" and has stressed that the AEMET workers are "simply the messengers" on climate issues.

The AEMET spokesman has also said that they are "a bit used" to insults, and that he believes that those who launch them are "small groups that are somewhat organized". "I downplay the matter a lot," he assured.

However, he regretted that "there are colleagues who are more concerned" and also pointed out that "it may be that in the past, once you make the prediction, there will be criticism because we have not been 100% correct, because science goes as far as it goes ".
