The Aemet predicts a weekend of extremes: from scorching heat to cool in less than two days

While Spain sheds its mantle of rain and welcomes the sun's rays with open arms, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has announced a thermal revolution in the next 48 hours. So it's better not to trust.

The heat, invited from North Africa, aims to raise the spring spirit to new highs, and then give way to a rapid and considerable drop in temperatures. In this way, this weekend, the Spanish will witness how spring plays its cards.

According to Aemet, a transition towards predominantly dry weather has been observed, accompanied by an increase in temperatures that has caused thermometers to exceed the 30 degree barrier. This thermal increase, which will reach its maximum on Saturday, is attributed to a mass of warm air coming from North Africa.

According to Aemet forecasts, "this weekend, a very warm air mass from North Africa will cause very high temperatures for the season: 30 to 32 ºC in areas of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands." This phenomenon will not only bring heat but will also affect air quality due to the presence of suspended dust.

As the weekend progresses, this scenario of heat and dust-laden air is expected to evolve into a colder reality. The Aemet points out a drastic change for Sunday, when the return of showers and a generalized and sharp drop in daytime temperatures is expected.
