San Isidro 2024 festivities program: concerts and activities

The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, presented last Friday at the Madrid History Museum the programming of the San Isidro 2024 Festivities, designed by the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports, which will be held from the 10th to the 15th. As reported by the City Council of the capital, the program contains a wide and varied offer of activities for all tastes and ages, once again highlighting the rich traditional traditional tradition and paying special attention to families, young people and the elderly.

Most of the events will be held in Las Vistillas, in the Plaza Mayor, in Matadero or in the Pradera de San Isidro, the nerve center of these celebrations with a program designed for all audiences. In this year's edition, a traditional San Isidro will be reflected, which represents the traditions and customs of the capital, but also the future of Madrid.

The programming will have various accessibility measures such as interpretation in sign language or subtitling in concerts by artists of the caliber of Karmento or Antonio José, as well as vibrating backpacks and hearing aids for people with hearing disabilities.

The vibrating backpacks will also be available to those who come to Las Vistillas to enjoy Los Punsetes (performed in sign language) and at the Matadero concerts. In addition, the San Isidro Festival will have purple dots within the framework of the municipal prevention campaign 'Not One!' against sexual violence.

The traditional events, such as the proclamation from the balcony of the old Town Hall in the Casa de la Villa, which will star the singer of Hombres G David Summers; the parade of giants and big heads; the pilgrimage in the Pradera de San Isidro; the vermouth dance; the traditional parade; the tribute of the regional houses to San Isidro, or the Madrileña Dance Festival, which this year celebrates its 40th edition, will coexist with a wide and varied program that includes concerts, shows, gastronomy, workshops, fashion, exhibitions, among others.

There will also be various activities aimed at family audiences such as workshops, games or concerts designed for all ages. In addition, '21Districts' joins the program with the performance of two great artists of Brazilian music, Mart'nália and Paulinho Moska, and with a new edition of their family festival '21Districts'.

Although most of the scheduled events will be held in the usual places such as the Plaza Mayor, the Vistillas gardens, the Pradera de San Isidro and Matadero Madrid, there will also be activities in the city districts, as well as in theaters and municipal centers .

Some of the featured activities include the San Isidro flower bouquet workshop on Santiago Street, the parade offered by the Tuna of the UCM Law Faculty in Retiro Park, the 46th edition of the Antique Book Fair and Ocasión de Madrid on Paseo de Recoletos or the workshops and tastings of Madrid gastronomy in the Antón Martín, Puerta Bonita, Chamberí, Orcasitas or la Cebada markets.
