The Aemet marks the most "adverse" day of the episode: widespread and abundant rains

Spain is on the verge of an episode of widespread and abundant rainfall, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) in a special information note. It will be starting this Thursday, when the weather will change again, with the arrival of an Atlantic storm that will cover the skies and cause rain in a good part of the west and center of the peninsula. The most "adverse" day of the storm will be Saturday.

For this Wednesday, the approach of an Atlantic front will increase medium and high cloudiness, extending from the west across much of the Atlantic and Cantabrian slopes. At the end of the day, very cloudy skies and precipitation are likely in western Galicia. A few showers are not ruled out in eastern Catalonia either.

Maximum temperatures will increase almost across the board, except for slight decreases in the Mediterranean area and eastern Canary Islands. The frosts will gain extension and intensity, affecting a good part of the northern half of the peninsula, the southern plateau and the southeastern mountains, the agency continues.

Abundant and widespread rain is expected from Thursday. A first front will sweep the Peninsula from west to east, leaving the most abundant rainfall in the western third of the peninsula. In the Levant peninsular and in the Balearic Islands they will be less intense and will not arrive until early Friday morning.

Furthermore, according to Aemet, at the end of Thursday a mass of air of polar maritime origin will begin to enter from the west, which will extend to the entire Peninsula on Friday, causing a marked thermal drop and lowering the snow level. up to 800-1100 meters.

Precipitation will also be recorded during Friday, but it will be less intense and more dispersed than the previous day. It is expected that they will affect Andalusia and especially Galicia the most.

In its note, the agency warns that the worst is expected for Saturday. A new, deeper storm will replace the previous one, also located to the northwest, with a front that will sweep the Peninsula from west to east. In addition, heavy snowfall is expected in the main mountain systems.

Everything indicates that on Sunday the storm will "fill in" and move towards the north, so a progressive atmospheric stabilization is expected on the Peninsula. This day there may still be widespread rainfall, but less intense.
