Together they distrust Illa as the referent for the negotiation of the Catalan portfolio

Each day is busy with the negotiations for the investiture of Pedro Sánchez, which is not without its twists and turns, twists and turns and complications. The role that the president of the acting central government confers on Salvador Illa in everything related to the Catalan folder - photo and staging included on Wednesday in Ferraz, at the headquarters of the PSOE - is one more. Junts per Catalunya did not like it, which still has a recent episode of the Barcelona City Council.

It is necessary to add the considerations against the amnesty expressed by various political and socio-economic actors, as well as those of the old socialist guard; or Parliament's resolution on the referendum, which in Barcelona barely caused perplexity, even though it caused an uproar in Madrid.

So, for now, the only clear thing is that the negotiations are continuing and that the JxCat parliamentary group in the Congress of Deputies will vote yes or no. The post-convergent negotiating team, headed by former president Carles Puigdemont, commented to the PSOE that they rule out abstention.

In this way, the possibility that the only deputy who has the Canarian Coalition in the Lower Chamber, will vote in favor of the investiture to downplay the importance of Junts and that a yes vote from the post-convergents is not necessary, remains on paper. In this sense, the Canarian president, Fernando Clavijo, had spoken out, foreseeing this option so that the Puigdemonts would become a "secondary actor".

From the beginning, contacts between socialists and post-convergents have been marked by mutual mistrust, although the agreement for the Congress Bureau has smoothed over differences and laid the foundations for a possible understanding. However, the figure of Illa, as Puigdemont and the general secretary of JxCat, Jordi Turull, pointed out yesterday, does not help to create the climate of trust that the negotiation requires.

"I think that giving prominence to the one who deceived Junts the day before the pact of shame in Barcelona to prevent Xavier Trias from being the mayor is a very strange way of showing us that they can be trusted", remarked Turull . In turn, Puigdemont also expressed his misgivings in the same sense. "Jordi Turull does well to remember the reasons why Salvador Illa will never be able to be a valid interlocutor to generate trust", replied the now MEP.

The first secretary of the Catalan Socialists, for his part, avoided hand-to-hand and friction with the post-convergents. Illa came out in the wake of these messages in an interview with Catalunya Ràdio and assured that he "will not enter into this". "I'm not looking for any prominence", he concluded. "That the PSC had the results it had and has the weight it has in Catalan politics is a no-brainer for everyone", added the former Minister of Health.

Turull was referring to the mayoralty of Barcelona, for which Jaume Collboni united the support of the communes of Ada Colau and the votes of the PP of Daniel Sirera at the last minute. Together, they expected to lead the mayor's office of the Catalan capital after winning the May 28 elections. The fact is that, beyond the discomfort with the maneuver, the post-convergent formation did not like that in the previous hours this movement was hidden with Barcelona enComú and the popular ones on the part of the PSC, since they had exchanged messages with the socialists several times .

On the other side of the scale, however, there is Junts' fluid relationship with the PSC in Parliament, in the tasks of opposition to the Government of Pere Aragonès. In the sectoral field, the two groups have expressed harmony since the beginning of the legislature on various issues such as infrastructure or large projects, as is the case of the Hard Rock complex, the fourth belt, or the expansion of the El Prat airport.
