"Things are moving", they warn Moncloa in the face of the negative impact they claim is caused by Vox's controversial role in the PP's electoral expectations. And so the demographic seismographs would already be recording it before 23-J.
"The PP is trapped in the ideological framework of Vox, and Alberto Núñez Feijóo does not lead the campaign or manage to place his messages", point out the Government. "They have a considerable mess", they emphasize on the struggle that is maintained in the space of the right for the constitution of parliaments and regional governments, after the agreements sealed between the two formations in numerous town halls throughout Spain.
And this is what Pedro Sánchez himself recognized, on Monday at La Ser: "These last few weeks we are seeing a reactivation of the progressive electorate, and it is up to the PSOE to win the elections and re-edit a progressive coalition government". The trend, according to Sánchez, is that "progressive Spain is waking up".
A Ferraz points out that they have been detecting this change of ground since a week and a half ago, when the government agreement signed between the PP and Vox in the Valencian Community triggered the negotiations between the two formations in other autonomies and evidenced their fight, singularly, in Extremadura. The controversial profiles that the far-right formation has placed at the head of the Valencian Courts, the Parliament of the Balearic Islands and the Courts of Aragon, with the votes of the PP, would already be taking their toll on Feijóo.
At the moment, the socialists warn that the "atypical" transfer of votes from the PSOE to the PP has slowed down, and is already reversing. That 9% vote, it was reduced to 6% or 5% and then they point out that it stopped suddenly.
"This had to come at some point, because it was the elephant in the PP's room. When you open the door to the ultra-right, then you can't be surprised by what happens", they point out in the direction of the PSOE. "The PP is reaping the fruit it has sown", they warn.
And the public, Ferraz points out, no longer only sees on television how the ultra-right acts: "They are seeing it in their own towns". In the local governments where Vox broke in after 28-M, they say, equality councils are abolished, LGBTI flags are removed during Pride week, rallies against gender violence are prohibited - which is denied as such–, cycle lanes are even removed, as is the case in Valladolid.
At the same time, the socialists emphasize, the PP is giving the image of being "a pot of crickets". "Each baron of the PP does what he likes and how he likes", they add, so that the party's image of unity is broken.
In this situation, the PSOE considers that Feijóo and the PP are dedicated to "administering the advantage" with which they came out in the 23-J race. "Feijóo is hiding, he does not want to risk and he does not want to debate, because he is very difficult to defend what he is doing", warn Moncloa. "It seems that they want to manage the advantage, but if this is like in football, whoever comes out to draw usually ends up losing", they warn Ferraz.
