Agents of the Civil Guard have arrested this Tuesday the acting mayor of the Sant Josep de sa Talaia (Eivissa) town hall, Ángel Luis Guerrero, of the PSOE, in an operation that could be related to urban irregularities in the municipality. For now, no details of the operation have been given since it is under summary secrecy.
Along with the mayor, other local officials have been held in the building, some of them from the urban planning department. The operation took place this Tuesday morning in the central offices of the City Council, from which the rest of the municipal civil servants were evicted.
Agents of the Judicial Police have accessed the municipal headquarters early to inspect the offices and seize documentation and other elements related to an urban matter that has not been specified for now. Among the officials retained with the mayor are also several from the urban planning department.
Part of the records of the officials are being carried out in other parts of the island. Two lawyers, Josep Maria Costa and Asunción Joaniquet, have approached the municipal offices to attend to their clients. Until now, it has not been revealed what is the specific case that is being investigated and that has motivated the entry of the Civil Guard into the institution.
Throughout the morning, Civil Guard agents have been seen removing boxes and other material from the municipal offices, but for the moment no further details of the operation have been given since it is under summary secrecy. Judge Carmen Martín, of Eivissa Investigating Court number 3, is the one who has ordered the records.
The acting mayor was about to leave his position in the City Council since this Saturday the PP candidate, Vicent Roig, who won 10 of the 21 councilors in the municipality, will be elected mayor. The PSOE obtained 7 representatives and the other two left councilors are not enough, one from ERC and the other from Podemos. Vox got two representatives.
