The Balearic Government denies contacts with Koldo so that the claim for the masks expired

The Government of Marga Prohens categorically denies that officials of the current executive or the Health Service have maintained contacts with members of the Koldo plot or have received pressure to let the file expire with the claim for the extra cost paid for the masks that arrived at the Islands through the companies investigated.

Spokesman Antoni Costa has denied any contact and has said that the only action of which there is evidence is the visit of two company employees in the context of requesting information about the file, which was opened in August 2023, already with Prohens in the Government.

"Members of the company or Koldo or other members of the plot may have had contacts with officials within the framework of the reinstatement file, but I do not know," he said. In any case, he has shown his "total confidence" in health officials, who limited themselves to doing his job. One of them is on sick leave, according to Government sources.

"The only ones who seem to have a clear interest in the file expiring are the Balearic PSOE, Iago Negueruela (spokesperson for the socialists on the islands) and the plot of Koldo and his companions. The Government has no interest," he said. .

He has pointed out that the plot tried to prevent the refund from taking place "and they succeeded for three years." However, it has also recognized that a report issued by the previous Government on July 6, 2023, the last day of Francina Armengol as president and the day Prohens was elected in Parliament, allowed the file to begin in August 2023, now with the new president. "If there was no report, it would have been difficult for us to find it," she admitted.

The Prohens executive insists that the administrative file has not expired and his spokesperson has stressed that a new criminal procedure has also been initiated to recover all the money that was paid and not just a part. He has assured that the administrative route will remain alive despite the fact that he has pointed out difficulties for it to prosper because the previous Government certified in a report that the material received was correct.

However, he has defended that criminal proceedings are better to claim the interests of the Balearic Islands. The Prohens executive has asked to appear in the case as an injured party, which will allow him to have access to the summary and know the content of the investigations, but he has not yet received notification from the judge about whether he agrees to this request.

Costa has reported that the file does not contain key reports to make the claim and has asked again if the former Balearic president, Francina Armengol, contacted the former minister José Luis Ábalos and why the report that triggers the claim takes three years to produce. be broadcast and it is not done until the day Prohens is elected president of the Parliament. She has also pointed out that the Community Attorney's Office was not informed of the appearance of the Civil Guard at the Health Service offices to request the contract at the request of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
