Ribó says that he will continue to lead Compromís in Valencia and urges to merge with Sumar on 23-J

Joan Ribó "does not plan" to leave the act of councilor and, as he already assured on election night, he will hand over to the winner of the elections, the popular María José Catalá, the staff of command of the consistory. Speaking to journalists after the Compromís meeting in the city of Valencia, the acting mayor wanted to leave two messages. On the one hand, his will to continue leading the municipal group of the coalition, now in opposition (it remains to be seen for how long) and, secondly, no less important. The visible face of Compromís in the city of Valencia, which also garnered a decent result -33,000 more votes than Joan Baldoví in the autonomous community-, has shown his preference for Compromís to converge with Yolanda Díaz's platform for the July 23 elections.

Sonado was the support of the second vice president of the government for Ribó's candidacy three days before the elections and now, the still first mayor is wet for the leader of Sumar although he admits that the decision must be made by the leadership of Compromís. Today there is a meeting of the executive, but it is not expected that it will be firm, despite the fact that time is pressing and the internal debate (there is still no unanimous position) cannot be extended since the coalitions have to present themselves next week.

Regarding the opposition, Ribó has defended that he will lead an "iron opposition" to the 'popular' María José Catalá, although he will lend his hand on issues related to the rights of women or LGTBI people. Thus, given the dependence that Catalá may have on the four Vox councillors, the leader of Compromís has assured that he will support the new mayoress on issues such as the European Green Capital of 2024 or the Gay Games of 2026.
