At the same time that the PP and Vox negotiators - headed by the popular candidate for the Generalitat Presidency, Carlos Mazón, and the supposedly vetoed Vox candidate, Carlos Flores - were meeting to explore a pact to govern the Generalitat Valenciana, the two parties announced their first great political agreement at the municipal level. And they did it in the third largest city in the Valencian Community, in Elche, the most important where an agreement between PP and Vox was necessary before Saturday the 17th to have a conservative mayor.
In Elche, the PSPV was the force with the most votes with 12 councilors, but the sum of PP (11) and Vox (3) is the one that gives the absolute majority. The Agreement was necessary because, if it had not been reached, the Socialist candidate would have been invested as it was the list with the most votes.
The agreement has been presented this morning and signed, in a symbolic act in the square of the hermitage in the district of Valverde, an area that has been key to facilitating the conservative overturn in the consistory. The PP candidate and future mayor Pablo Ruz, and the Vox candidate, Aurora Rodil, have signed the joint document and hugged each other to seal the agreement. Among the first measures announced is the creation of a Department of Family and the Elderly that will be led by Rodil, which will also be in charge of issues related to the promotion of birth rates, as well as pro-life policies. Vox will also hold the delegations for Economic Promotion and Training, and for Pedanías, Camp d'Elx and Territorial Vertebration.
